Research Funding (FP7)

Framework Programme Seven (FP7) is the European Commission's main source of funding for collaborative Research and Technological Development.  The current Programme (FP7) will run from 2007 to 2013 with a total budget of over €50 million.  Its main aims are:

  • to strengthen the EU’s scientific and technological base
  • to encourage the EU’s competitiveness
  • to promote research that supports EU policies
This money will primarily be spent on grants to fund research across Europe and beyond, in order to co-finance research, technological development and demonstration projects. Grants are determined on the basis of calls for proposals and a peer review process, which are highly competitive.

FP7 is open to a broad range of organisations, such as SME's, universities, companies intending to innovate, researchers and NGO's.
