Advanced Research & Technology for EMbedded Intelligence and Systems
30 November 2010 is the deadline under REACH for registration of most hazardous substances.
The EU-funded PPLANE project is poised to revolutionise travel, ease congestion with its Personal Air Transport System (PATS), a new paradigm in air transport. Like a private car, the PPlane personal air vehicle will deliver the benefits of speed and routing efficiency only possible through direct-to-destination flight.
New figures released by the European Commission show that SME participation in FP7 is on the increase.
This report, adopted by the EC on 15 December 2009, summarises the progress achieved in 2009, which has been the first full year of implementation of the SBA, focussing mainly on the measures contained in the SBA Action Plan and in the European Economic Recovery Plan.
The European Council called for the elaboration of a new European Innovation Plan (EIP) to contribute to the competitiveness of the EU industry and to foster economic recovery. To this end, a public consultation was launched on 16 September 2009 and 215 responses where received, by mid November, from 35 countries, among which 11 are non-EU countries.

Last year’s SME Week was a great success, the UK registering 121 events ranking them third overall out of the 35 countries taking part. There were a whole variety of events from workshops and seminars to fairs and networking events.

Enterprise Europe South West is pleased to support the regional life science sector to find new partners through a range of support measures. A catalogue of the latest business opportunities in the sector has today gone live on the Enterprise Europe website, along with details of two brokerage events taking place in the UK this Spring.
A call for proposals has been launched under the EU’s Seventh Framework Programme for research and development (FP7) that aims to help SMEs become more innovative.
