09/09/2010 Corsham, Wiltshire The MOD’s Cyber & Influence Science and Technology Centre are holding a call for innovative research proposals in Next Generation Analytical Tools for Cyber Defence. Protecting MOD systems from sophisticated threats is an increasing challenge in a networked world. This SBRI competition, run through the MODs Centre for Defence Enterprise (CDE), will launch with a seminar on September 9th 2010 which will further describe novel approaches to cyber defence with particular emphasis on: · Enhanced Situational Awareness (ESA) - the ability of tools and techniques that allow computer network defense operators to dynamically query a distributed information repository and visualise the results in support of agile risk based decision-making. · Countering Sophisticated Attacks (CSA) - the ability to detect and report previously unreported computer network attacks in real-time. · Decision Support for Network Defence (DSCD) - innovative ways of exploring the impact that a computer network attack can have at the business process level. · Co-operative working for Network Defence (CWCD) - novel information sharing and interaction paradigms that facilitate agile risk based decision-making. The competition will open at the seminar on September 9th. Companies are strongly advised to attend the seminar to hear firsthand the challenges faced in these areas and the process for participating in this competition. In 2009 more than 550 exhibitors from 35 countries participated in RIGA FOOD, and more than 35 000 visitors were registered. 13/09/2010 BIS Conference Centre, Victoria Street, London The Commission’s Call for proposals in the NMP programme was launched on 20th July 2010 with a budget of over 400M€. This Call also includes topics within the Public Private Partnership (PPP) Call.
The UK National Contact Point for the NMP theme of FP7 is pleased to announce a National Information Day on Monday 13th September 2010. The event will be hosted by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills in their Conference Centre at 1 Victoria Street, London.
The day will commence with coffee and registration from 9.30am and delegates will be welcomed by the first speaker at 10.00am. The event will finish at 1.30pm with a buffet lunch and refreshments.
The morning will be used to address the content of the Call, the principal speaker being Dr Martyn Chamberlain - from the European Commission.
There will be ample opportunity throughout the day for networking, information gathering and brokering.
In addition, there will be case study presentations from active industrial participants in the NMP programme and National Contact Point staff will be available for help and advice.

Automotive suppliers from European countries are very much invited to pre-scheduled business and technology meetings with international partners at Automechanika 2010 in Frankfurt, the world’s leading trade fair for the automotive industry, on 15 September 2010. The Enterprise Europe Network organises an international brokerage event at the exhibition ground Messe Frankfurt together with two German Clusters: Automotive Cluster RheinMainNeckar and Mobility Cluster MoWIN.net. The event addresses companies from the automotive industry, willing to find cross-border co-operation partners: distributors, subcontractors, licensees, technological partners, service providers or others. The event is also a platform for exchange on current developments, technologies and innovation in different countries.
