06/07/2010 Turin, Italy ESOF 2010, the biennial pan-European meeting dedicated to scientific research and innovation, this year will take place in Turin from 2nd to 7th July 2010 (www.esof2010.org ).
ESOF is an international and multidisciplinary event, that takes place every two years, in major European cities (Stockholm, Munich, Barcelona, Torino, Dublin...).
Unioncamere Piemonte and the Chamber of commerce of Turin (both partners of the ALPS Enterprise Europe Network for North-West of Italy) are organising a brokerage event aiming to improve technology transfer form research to industry and to facilitate the consortium building for FP7 projects.

The European Commission will not reimburse any expenses. 09/07/2010 Charlemagne Building, rue de la Loi 170, 1000 Brussels In order to support the preparation of proposals, the Directorates General for Research, Information Society and Media, Energy, and for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission are holding a Joint Information Day on Research PPPs on 9 July 2010 in the Charlemagne building, rue de la Loi 170, in Brussels.
The European Commission would be pleased to welcome you to this Information Day. The aim of this event is to inform you about the progress regarding the research PPPs and the second Cross-thematic Coordinated Calls related to them. In particular, the research areas open and the conditions for participation will be addressed.

To help you understand the Customs procedure, UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) in partnership with the HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) have developed this free one day seminar.
This seminar will enable you and your business to:
See the ‘BIG PICTURE’ review some of the legislative changes to date including changes to security requirements.
Raise your awareness of your legal obligations arising from these changes and discuss their potential impact on your business.
Obtain access to UKTI and Enterprise Europe Network support for your international activities.
The presentation from HMRC will look at the major systems and processes regarding importing and exporting and how the changes will affect them.
The morning presentation includes:
- The key requirements of the import process, including your roles and responsibilities to aid compliance, with an introduction to:
- Customs freight simplified procedures (CFSP)

- The 10 Euro Waiver (for duty imports under 10 Euros)

- Reform of the Customs Code and associated developments which looks at the security amendment to the existing Customs rules and introduces some key concepts such as:
- The requirement to submit data in advance of importation and exportation from July 2009
- The concept of Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) which came into being in January 2008
- A look at the EU’s Modernised Customs Code (published June 2008) which will replace existing Customs law over the next few years

The Energie Helpline UK, the UK support service for FP7 Energy, is holding a free Information Day presenting information on the forthcoming 2011 FP7 Energy Calls for Proposals and the recently launched Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Call for Proposals. You can register for the event by clicking here.
The Information Day will include a series of presentations in the morning about the Call priorities followed by lunch and the opportunity to discuss your proposal ideas on a one-to-one basis with members of the Helpline team in the afternoon.
Eight Calls for Proposals relating to the Energy theme of FP7 with a total expected budget of 270M€, are due to be launched at the end of July 2010 and this Information Day will provide pre-notification of the likely content of these Calls. The Calls are likely to include the following topics:

* Bio-energy
* Wind
* Solar thermal
* PV
* CO2 capture and storage
* Clean coal
* Smart energy networks
* Energy efficiency in manufacturing industry

The information presented at the event will be based on draft information and is provided with the aim of giving UK organisations an awareness of the likely Call content before the summer break in view of the fact that the first deadlines are scheduled for October 2010.
The Information Day will also include information on the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Technology Initiative Call for Proposals that was launched last Friday (18th June). Details of the Call can be found here. 16/07/2010 1 Victoria Street Conference Centre On Friday 16 July the UK Space Agency is holding a UK FP7 Space Information Day and Networking Event at the 1 Victoria Street Conference Centre. The purpose of this newsletter is to give you details of the agenda and the likely content of the next FP7 Space Call.
The aim of the event is to provide information and assistance regarding the 2011 work programme for the Space theme and to offer the opportunity to network with other potential framework programme participants. The outline agenda for the day is:
- "What's in it for me?" An indication of what the 2011 space work programme is likely to contain (the programme will formally be published on 31 July).
- "Why would I want to get involved?": Presentation by one or more previous successful UK participant in a space-related framework programme projects.
- “Who in the UK would be interested in collaborating with me?” A networking opportunity to identify potential UK partners.
- "What's next?" Advice on how to find partners overseas.
The Information Day will start at 10.00am. The formal conclusion is planned for around 2.30pm, although there may be opportunity to stay on and network or receive advice. The event will include lunch, during which there will be further opportunities to network.

Enterprise Europe Network South West is pleased to invite you to an event to gain an understanding of future opportunities for European R&D funding for Healthcare projects.
Attendees will learn what European funding is available for Healthcare projects and will get advance notification of the likely call contents. The event will also give attendees the chance to meet with regional and national support teams, hear a case study from a succesful participant and network with potential partners and experienced FP7 participants.
The event, organised in partnership with FP7UK will also provide details on how to access further support and how to write a proposal. FP7. A buffet lunch will be provided.
