Isoperla

ISOPERLA SHOWS REAL APPTITUDE

Isoperla, run by Mark Haley, develops guides to species of trees and animals which are used as ‘apps’ for an Apple iPhone.

Mark said: “We were looking for help in sourcing images for future applications as well as expanding into new overseas markets.

“Our first ‘app’ for trees took around two years to develop, and features around 40 different species of trees indigenous to the UK, along with pictures and detailed examples of their leaves.”

The EEN put Mark in touch with Sunbird TV, a wildlife films production company based near Essen, Germany.

It sourced pictures and provided the translation for the German version of the trees app, as well as outlining which trees within the application are native to Germany and Holland.

Mark added: “It has been downloaded more than 5,000 times from the Apple website, to iPhone users as far away as Germany, Switzerland, Austria and France.”

The firm is now working on similar applications for reptiles and birds.

Simon Henton, who provides free information to businesses on behalf of EEN South West, said:

“Isoperla is a small but very successful niche company which wanted to develop its range of applications overseas. We were pleased to be able to help them find suitable European business partners.”
